SURVEILLANCE

Production Logging

Production Logging is the procedure of measuring and monitoring certain fluid properties over the life of the well, which can be useful in identifying production and mechanical problems, generating flow profiles, monitoring change in fluid saturation, and for comparison with expected well performance .The ultimate purpose of which is to provide information which can aid in maximizing oil recovery, extending the life of the well, and reducing operating costs

Acoustic Leak Flow Analyser Tool (ALFA) “Noise logging”

Acoustic Leak Flow Analyzer Tool is a memory tool used to carry out various well diagnostic studies extending from well integrity evaluation to production performance monitoring. This device measures acoustic data in the frequency range of 8 Hz to 60,000 kHz with very high frequency resolution. The tool uses very sensitive acoustic sensors to be able to measure sound produced downhole by either gas or liquid flow. Measurements are taken over a wide frequency range, enabling a very effective way of leak detection as well as detection of various kinds of gas, water, or oil flow, including flow behind the pipe.

Flow Array Sensing Tool (FAST)

Production logging (PL) of oil and gas wells faces numerous challenges related to the complexity of multiphase flow condition and sensitivity of the downhole environment. Mixtures of gas, oil and water, flowing in well both in open hole and cased hole will present bubbles, droplets, mist, segregated waves and slug structures. Flow patterns change radically depending on the relative proportions of phases, their velocity, densities, and viscosities as well pipe dimensions and well deviations.

New developments in sensor miniaturization of sensors allowing colocation of various measurements within inches with flexible option for selecting the application from pure production logging it to behind the measurements (fluorescence, acoustic, conductivity) can yield new information about flow form a well including oil typing, asphaltene detection, non-mechanical velocity determation in additional to traditional production logging data.
